Berlinale entry to be screened in city
German film "Kirschbluten – Hanami" (Cherry blossoms), the touching story about the meaning of life told through an old couple, premieres at Ho Chi Minh City’s Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) on April 14.
The 127-minute movie directed by Doris Dorrie is about Trudi and Rudi Angermeier.
When Trudi learns that her husband Rudi is terminally ill, she suggests visiting their children in Berlin without telling him the truth about his condition. But Franzi and Karl are too busy with their lives to care for their parents. Trudi and Rudi go to the Baltic Sea, where Trudi suddenly dies.
The shock makes Rudi realize he should spend his time discovering the world and know more about his wife’s dream.
Tickets cost VND15,000 and are available at the IDECAF office.
The movie, an entry at the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival, is brought here by the Goethe Institute Vietnam.
