Packages for golfers
The two golf clubs Dalat Palace and Ocean Dunes are offering “hole-in-one” packages combining golf tours and accommodation in the Central Highlands resort city and the coastal central city of Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan Province.
The Dalat Palace Golf Club is charging US$81 per person for 18 holes of golf with caddie plus one-night stay in a standard room at the Novotel Dalat Hotel with breakfast at Café de la Poste. The package for staying in a suite at the 4-star, 140-room hotel costs US$139 per night.
Those who prefer a superior room at the 5-star Sofitel Dalat Palace and 18 holes of golf with caddie at the golf club will pay US$150 per person per night. The deal includes breakfast at La Rabelais Restaurant on the 43-room property.
“If you’re a golfer, these packages couldn’t be more attractive,” said Jeff Puchalski, director of golf at the Dalat Palace Golf Club. “You get golf and lodging for next to nothing.”
The special golf and hotel accommodation packages are available not only in Dalat but also in Phan Thiet, where the Novotel Ocean Dunes & Golf Resort has followed suit. The beachfront property is offering links lovers a standard room and 18 holes of golf with caddie at the Ocean Dunes Golf Club for US$110. The price includes breakfast at either Seahorse restaurant on the six-storey, 123-room hotel’s ground floor or the course’s clubhouse.
“It’s the perfect time to play too because the club’s tournament schedule dies down at this time of year,” said Kenny Saunders, Ocean Dunes Golf Club’s operations manager. “You can pretty much tee it up when you want. And because there’s less traffic, the course is in good shape.”
In its 2003, 2005 and 2007 Planet Golf surveys, Golf Digest (USA) rated Dalat Palace and Ocean Dunes golf clubs Nos. 1 and 2 in the country, respectively. The Novotel Ocean Dunes & Golf Resort was one of the first few resorts to grace the shores of Vietnam when it opened in 1996.
