Handicapped livings on display in Hanoi
More than 8,000 photos of sixteen handicapped people in Thanh Hoa Province featuring their own life stories will be displayed at a photo exhibition at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi on February 25th.
This is part of the "Face to Face" project organized by the German Development Service Center (DED) in collaboration with the Association in Support of Handicapped People and Orphans in Thanh Hoa Province, Ensemble Creative Training and Development and the W.P.Schmitz Foundation.
For five months in 2008 the 16 participants took over 8000 photographs of their community lives, in both urban and rural areas. Coming from a variety of backgrounds and jobs, such as farmer, tailor, electrician, factory worker, manager and unemployed, the participants have taken photos which give viewers a rich and authentic insight into their lives, in the hope that the viewer may rethink their stereotypical views about people living with disabilities in Vietnam.
Many workshops were held during the training course in an effort to give participants a chance to exchange photos, observations, and communication and photography skills.
The event will run till March 3.
